North Rock, Bermuda during a winter storm swell. Over 7 nautical miles from shore, at the northern tip of Bermuda's fringing reef platform, North Rock marks the northern most (fully developed) coral reef in the world. Powerful winter storms send large northerly swells that break across North Rock's shallow reef platform. Swimming amongs the surf and photographing these waves requires both delicate timing and strong swimming. I was also with 2 surfer friends riding these waves (not in picture!).
